With trick or treating just a few days away, here are some fun and interesting candy facts for your sweet tooth, courtesy of The Huffington Post:

Candy in Weight
Americans purchase nearly 600 million pounds of candy a year for Halloween. To put that into perspective, that’s 16 billion fun-size Snickers bar or 158 trillion individual candy corns.

Biggest Candy Sales
Compared to other “sweet” holidays (Easter and Valentine’s Day), chocolate candy sales soar during Halloween week. But of course, how can those other holidays compete with candy given away by the handful and left in bowls on front porches?

After the beloved candy corn, the leading best sellers for chocolate treats are Snickers, Reese’s, Kit Kats, and M&Ms.

Over 10 percent of annual candy sales happen on the days leading up to Halloween—close to $2 billion dollars.

The most popular day to purchase candy (the day with the most sales) is October 28th. That’s today!

The average American household spends about $44/year on Halloween candy.

Candy Corn is a clear favorite
The top-selling candy is candy corn! Americans purchase more than 20 million pounds of it a year.

“Candy corn” is the most-searched-for candy term in Google. And out of all 50 states, Alabama searched for candy corn the most!

Candy by State
Colorado searched for the most organic candy, whereas Oregon searched most for gluten-free candy and Kentucky took the lead in sugar-free.
