Scenes from the 2017 Bridal Open House: The Pergola

For last weekend’s bridal open house, our wedding coordinators decorated our pergola with a giant dreamcatcher. Accented with gorgeous fresh flowers and bright strips of multicolored cloth, the pergola stood in oasis-like contrast to the leafless landscape.

We added a few chairs to evoke a wedding setting, although during actual ceremonies, for big weddings we’ve set out as many as 216 chairs! Our pond-side pergola always makes for a lovely ceremony setting.

A Little Wedding, A Little History

We’re getting ready for a wedding this afternoon here at Stevenson Ridge. Teal, peach, and off-white pom-poms festoon the fireplace in the chapel, and spider-thin curly-que candelabras, also teal, sit at the center of each table. A sign in the lobby says, “Happiness is not a destination. It is a way of life.”

Outside, it’s the kind of day our handyman, Frank, would call a “Chamber of Commerce” day—sunny and pleasant and enticing.

Full Dress Uniforms

NavySwordWe’re fortunate to host a number of military weddings at Stevenson Ridge. Today, we were treated to a Navy wedding, with the groom and several groomsmen in full dress uniform, including their swords.

Seeing grooms in uniform is always an inspiring sight. The Navy dress uniforms, which are all white, are particularly striking, particularly against the lush green background out near the pond. It was absolutely stunning.
