In case you missed last weekend’s annual luminary ceremony at Fredericksburg National Military Park, here are a couple quick pictures. It took 500 Boy Scouts two hours to set up all the flags and all the bags with the candles in them, plus another hour to light them, plus another hour to pick them all up (and that’s not even counting all the time spent getting the bags of sand assembled, used to weight down the candle bags).…

 

Memorial Day Luminary at the National Cemetery

If you’ve never before taken the time to visit the annual luminary event at Fredericksburg National Cemetery, do yourself a favor and make it a point to visit this year.

The annual tradition will be held this Saturday, May 28, from 8-11 p.m.

This will be the 21st anniversary of the Memorial Day Luminary, and it’s particularly special because this year marks the 150th anniversary of the establishment of the cemetery.
