You’ve planned the perfect late fall wedding, so what does Daylight Savings Time ending have to do with your wedding? Quite a lot, actually!

At a recent wedding, I was chatting with one of the photographers about the time change and how couples often forget to consider the impact of Daylight Savings Time as they plan their big day. Here are some facts and difficulties that they shared with me:

Handling some wedding tasks yourself can be a great way to personalize your event and save money. But don’t go too far! If it’s something you can do months in advance while you’re watching TV, then go for it. If it’s something that is time sensitive, don’t risk it. The final days before your wedding will be hectic: last-minute errands, family in town, seating charts to finalize, rehearsal and rehearsal dinner, packing …

Pick Your Pumpkin

Autumn is, without a doubt, my most favorite time of the year. It’s not because my birthday is in the fall (well ok, maybe that has a little something to do with it) but fall just seems to bring a reboot of life. As F. Scott Fitzgerald says, “Life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the fall.” There is just something about the cool crisp air, and crunch of leaves under your feet, to make …

Your fiancé liked it so he put a ring on it—and now you don’t want to take off said ring, right? I know what you’re thinking, and I totally understand. However, if you want your bling to continue shining bright like a diamond for a really long time it’s important NOT to wear it while you’re busy doing these things.

However, those amazing finds can have an odd mildew-y odor to them. So here are a few ways to help remove musty smells …

Vintage vs. Rustic vs. Shabby Chic

from Bettina

We hear these words used to describe wedding themes a lot, but what exactly do they mean, and what’s the difference between them? The short answer is: vintage = time, rustic = place, and shabby chic = style. But let’s break it down a little more.

A vintage theme is one that uses items and decor that depicts a certain period in time, or the items themselves are aged. For …

Happy National Honey Month!

It’s often said that without honey our civilization would grind to a screeching halt. While that scenario is probably a ways off, let’s take a moment to think about what might happen if we didn’t have honeybees.

According to the National Honey Board, without honeybees, there’d be absolutely no almonds, because the production of almonds depend 100% on honeybee pollination. That means we would need to find something …

Table Setting Survival Guide

From Bettina

Recently, we had a 90th birthday party here at The Riddick House, and as everyone sat down to dinner, one of the younger guests quietly asked us which fork to use. This made me realize how much table etiquette has been neglected as part of our education today. I know some of my friends are terrified of having to go to elegant functions. But don’t worry! I’m here to help you! This is my quick place setting survival …

Hosting an open bar at your wedding can be a huge hit to your wedding budget. As coordinators, we get asked all the time by our couples of ways to help them save money without sacrificing quality. A fabulous way to personalize your drink selections while simultaneously managing your bar costs is to offer a limited open bar–meaning you serve only beer, wine, and a signature drink or two to give your guests a little bit …
