It was a scene right out of a storybook: a gorgeous bride riding to her ceremony in a horse and carriage.
The wedding guests had assembled at our outdoor ceremony site next to the pond. Meanwhile, in front of the Lodge, perched atop the seat of a polished carriage, a beautiful white horse stood ready at the reigns. The bride climbed aboard, and with a subtle snap of the whip, the coachman guided the carriage forward—around the Lodge, across the lawn, down the hill.
Hand-held fans fluttered, trying to fend off the humidity—but everything stopped when the bride arrived. A hushed “ooooo” breathed through the crowd.
Everything was perfect.
We don’t get to host horses and carriages too often, although our friends at Marriage Carriage & More—based in Fredericksburg—do a wonderful job. It was an entrance worthy of a fairytale.
May the bride and her groom live happily ever after!
